After a quick visit to TMD to pick up some appropriate shorts by ...Scars..., we picked up the water pistols and battled it out on the sand. Thanks, Harm, for a fun evening, my closest friend in this world.

Dear Sister

Family is something people talk about a lot. They talk about mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts and uncles. Family is so much more than this.
Nathaniel lost his family, a long, long time ago. All he has now are those he knows he can call family. Those who he can be safe in the knowledge that they'll be there for him as he would be for them. Those he can confide in. Those he can truly be himself with.
One such person, he now calls sister, an honour only given to one other on this earth. Knowing full well the truth about his real family, about his true sister, this is not something he gives lightly. Thank you, sister.

Casually Waiting

The first rule of being this way is to hide what you are. If they all knew, they would all rise up. People like Nathaniel have been hunted for as long as man has known they exist, through fear. How can such anger and rage be hidden? How can it be kept from everyone?
The best way is to hide in plain sight, be as they are, become another face in the crowd. That is when you are truly hidden.

Back Roads

Sometimes, the call of the back road is far greater than the call of the destination. This is true both in life and in driving or riding. We should always endeavour to take the back roads once in a while, taking the time to enjoy the journey instead of always rushing to get there. Maybe even pause half way to enjoy the view.

Living Like Money

Nathaniel had the keys in his pocket already, walking around the estate. He was looking for the garage, to find his new car. He had had a good look around the house once he'd been invited in by the current/previous owner.

"Harmony would kill for a place like this." That had been his first thought. And once the young blonde he had met in the cocktail bar the previous night let him in, her fate had been sealed. Her willingness to have him made things all too easy. Inviting him to shower the scent of an entire night spent drinking away seemed like a win win to him.

The brilliant white marble bathtub was covered and the curtains look like some sick and twisted modern art. Still, it would be easier than cleaning up the carpets.

Finally, he found the garage. Opening the back door, he strode past the car to the shutter and kneeling. With ease, he pushed up the shutter, overcoming the electric motors and gearing and allowing the light to crash in like a wave. He stayed crouched for a moment, looking back to the house. "Happy Birthday, Harmony." He said out loud.

Note: I am aware that I have now blogged these shoes three times in a row, but they are such an awesome design and really high quality and I have fallen in love with them a little.

Life's a Beach

He wasn't usually a fan of sand, it gets everywhere. He's been around nearly eight and a half centuries and yet he could still find sand in places he never knew existed after a day at the beach. Today was different. He was happy to trade his beloved woodland and his frequented urban areas for mildly warmer pastures. The sun had been beating down on this stretch of beach all day and the sand was warm even though the air was cooling. He'd spread himself out and just took the time to enjoy it for once as he listened to the waves lull back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. He sat up a little, adjusting his shades so he could look out over the expanse of water, as if he could see the other side. When night fell his being would not be so calm, so he felt like making the most of it.

Leap of Faith

There was something about standing on a rooftop that spoke to Nathaniel. The solitary feeling of pulling yourself out from the crowd, almost like looking in from the outside. The breeze was uninhibited by the surrounding buildings and rushed across his skin and through his hair, causing his turned up collar to flap.

Nathaniel closed his eyes, drawing the scent of the evening air, inhaling deeply. He paused before exhaling, the breath escaping from his between his lips. He took a step up onto the ledge and without pausing he spread his arms and carried on over the edge.
