Been a while since both Harmony and Nathaniel were able to just let their hair down, mess around and just have some fun.

After a quick visit to TMD to pick up some appropriate shorts by ...Scars..., we picked up the water pistols and battled it out on the sand. Thanks, Harm, for a fun evening, my closest friend in this world.

5 Years in SL

This coming Monday marks the 5th anniversary of me joining SL. To celebrate, I thought I'd take a look back through the main versions of Nathaniel...

Nathaniel Mk.1 (aka. NathanielV)
Other than the default avatar I selected, this was the first flexi/prim covered avatar I created. It was also, probably, made from mostly freebie... so leave him be. He tried.

Nathaniel Mk.2 (aka. Para)

Having joined Bloodlines and found his role as a vampire, this version of Nathaniel was beginning to gain a style imposed on him by his character and setting, rising through ranks and gaining favour with his superiors. This picture was actually taken at his turning, when he officially became a vampire. Who knew there'd not be long left in his first clan (ExN) in this moment. From then on, Bloodlines would be very difficult for him, till eventually, he all but gave up on it.

Nathaniel Mk.3 (aka. Nathaniel Sandalphon)

In the third generation of Nathaniel he was a many faced avi, trying his hand at practicing medicine, building and finally, exploring many strange variations on his identity. It was with this long serving version of himself that he would rejoin ExN and really develop who he was.

Nathaniel Mk.4 (aka. Nathaniel Sandalphon)

This was the first of the mesh era adaptation of Nathaniel, who was deeply formed into his character and very much a creative creature. After several events this avatar would help create a new clan (*One) with great potential, he would have several major life events (Getting married, adopting kids... getting divorced) and would eventually begin to grow both in RP and in family till once again, everything fell apart clan-wise.

Nathaniel Mk.5 (aka. Nathaniel Dunkeld)

After time away from the grid, Nathaniel came back with a minor reinvent. Though deep down, his character was the same, he was ready to move onward as his final personality. With his personal relationships growing, he and those he still called family built their home.

Nathaniel Mk.6 (aka. Nathaniel Dunkeld)

With the Mesh era in full swing, this was the first reproduction to have a mesh body. This was also the avatar that would find a place in a society other than the dark, old clans before eventually wandering back to Bloodlines, making new and lasting friendships as well as seeing others diminish; as is always the way. This version of Nathaniel is also the first to take his appearance seriously as well as his life history, sitting down to write his life story and starting this blog.

Nathaniel Mk.7 (aka. Nathaniel Dunkeld)

Here and now. This is Nathaniel Dunkeld as he currently looks, his second life lived and his character complete and looking onward to the next chapter and the chapter after that. Looking back, the difference is immense and the process has been wonderful, stressful, entertaining, draining and every other emotion life should be.

Tired

Sitting alone in the darkness. That's where you feel it the most; when there's no one else to see it and there's nothing to distract you from the truth. Taking the long road anywhere wears you down, regardless of who you are. Regardless of your strength or power, the things you've lost along the way can reduce them to weakness and powerlessness.
Whether it's the people you've lost, the things you've lost; or more worryingly, the parts of yourself you've lost on the journey. When you're alone in the darkness, with no one watching and nothing to distract; that's when you feel every single moment of what you've lost.

It's been a long time coming and a lot of work to build, but finally, the ((Dunphon)) brand will be moving in-world in its very first Mainstore.

When he's in control

It was just the way he needed it, the way he wanted it. Taking control of her was almost in his nature. There was a deep craving to feel her submit to him and once the control was given he could enjoy her in every way possible.

The feel of her hot, soft skin sliding against his as they moved together, the sound of her laboured breathing, the smell of the sweat on her neck as his lips brushed below her ear and his fingers traced her hip bone. It was all he craved... that, and something from deep inside her.

Wrapped in Him

She'd already given him control, which he took without question. She'd given him her body, which he gladly accepted. Now, wrapped in his arms, she felt both completely safe and in mortal danger. Everything he told her suggested that he would never let harm befall her and she was his to protect. So why did she feel like that promise wouldn't be pain free? It was then that the graze of his fangs on her shoulder sent shivers down her spine, but rather than try to escape, she leaned her head to let him take the only thing she hadn't already given.

It was unspoken, neither had to say it. They took their roles naturally but it wasn't about the needs of either, it was about the needs of both. He was her protector, her provider, her purpose and he gave her as much as she gave to him in her subservience.

And so it starts. With the acquisition of the most suitable building on the square and a lot of renovation work, the first part of the transformations had been completed. The dark corners and loose inhibitions would become a perfect hunting ground while the upstairs club would bring in a younger crowd that lived later on into the night. As the saying goes, "Build it and they will come."

It's cold out there

Another winter, another year over, another year older. And what seems to stand out the most is the coldness of it all. Walking these streets, hearing the faint crunch of snow under foot, Nathaniel looks around at the decrepit, decaying streets that once were filled with vibrant life. Could it be his presence? Did death really follow wherever he wandered?

 Taking the long road, he glanced to the dilapidated houses and defaced shop fronts before stopping to look back along the railings of the park in silence, where children's laughter once rang out through the day. Surely, even in the snow, there should be laughter and play?

After rounding the corner, seeing the abandoned vehicles, he couldn't help but appreciate the solitude in a small way. In all honesty, it wasn't Nathaniel that had ruined this neighbourhood, it was those who took over once they'd left.

Perhaps there was hope though. He knew one way to drive out those that had ruined the area and it would take very little on his part. As dark as the acts may be, it's always possible to find such beauty in dark times.

Finally approaching his destination, sliding the key into the lock, he smiled to himself. Things were about to change, that he knew as he looked out of the window at the square. Just you wait.

Paradise Lost in SL

Many of you may be aware of a performance that occurred last year, an SL first that was hailed by many as a creative masterpiece. Having been part of said event was an absolute honour for me and I have to thank those who gave me the opportunity to do so.

This amazing story, as depicted by the wonderful Basilique Performing Arts group, shows the story of Adam and Eve and how they fell from God's favour. The story is brilliantly formed from John Milton's work and moves gracefully along to the sound of Mozart's Requiem, capturing the raw power of each scene in graphic detail.

Canary 'Becky' Beck is now pleased to announce that for this one week it will be free to register on her website to watch the motion picture of the event. All you have to do is visit her site and follow the instructions here.

Act now, because it is only free until the 19th of September. The film will be available after this date when a ticket is purchased. The post on her blog goes on to state that there will also be an in-world screening of the performance.

No time to be shy!

Vanity is a funny thing. It drives us to hide ourselves when we believe we are to be ashamed and to strive to be seen when we feel we have something worth seeing. Sometimes, it's the opposite that makes us hide too, knowing we have something beautiful but hiding it out of embarrassment, even from those who have already seen and felt its beauty.

She knew exactly what she had in mind, she knew exactly how she wanted him and from the moment he walked through the door she knew she had him.

 She pushed him back, pressing a hand against his chest until he stumbled before pushing him down with her foot.

Words weren't needed, he understood perfectly and wouldn't need asking as she slowly undid the buttons of her dress shirt, dropping it to the floor. He watched with a grin on his face as she revealed her plans, lowering on to him and enjoying him.

Out of Sorts

Waking up in a strange bed, still deleterious from the fever. He still couldn't thank her enough for letting him stay the night let alone feeding him. The poisons would wear off, never in any real danger but the offer of her blood soothed the pain and let the illness pass much quicker.

Dunkeld - The Hunted

This is something I'm very excited about and has been a long time in development. I am finally writing the story of Nathaniel Dunkeld....

The book is currently still being written but I hope to complete it by the end of the year.

Control

There are certain pleasures that can be enjoyed by everyone in the heat of those moments, when bodies collide. The feel of her skin, the touch of her lips, the warmth of her body against his as he presses her against the wall. And then there are the pleasures that very few can enjoy. The beat of her heart pounding in his ears as he leans over her shoulder, the sweet taste of her as he penetrates her skin, the hot liquid passing his lips as he steals her. After all, what is being a vampire if not relishing in it.

Just Try to Remove Me

It's a natural occurance, the removal of threats to superiority. In the wild, many anumals will kill off young who might grow up to challenge their dominance. This can be seen in all walks of life. Having shown his ability to be the dominant and even being handed the crown, the council was unhappy. But it would take a whole city of vampires and lycans to remove Nathaniel from his hill. Standing in the ruins, on this, his high ground. He waits for the next round.

Dear Sister

Family is something people talk about a lot. They talk about mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts and uncles. Family is so much more than this.
Nathaniel lost his family, a long, long time ago. All he has now are those he knows he can call family. Those who he can be safe in the knowledge that they'll be there for him as he would be for them. Those he can confide in. Those he can truly be himself with.
One such person, he now calls sister, an honour only given to one other on this earth. Knowing full well the truth about his real family, about his true sister, this is not something he gives lightly. Thank you, sister.

Casually Waiting

The first rule of being this way is to hide what you are. If they all knew, they would all rise up. People like Nathaniel have been hunted for as long as man has known they exist, through fear. How can such anger and rage be hidden? How can it be kept from everyone?
The best way is to hide in plain sight, be as they are, become another face in the crowd. That is when you are truly hidden.
